About this blog:

This site was not developed with the intention of drawing a large number of visitors using trivial methods and shallowness. There is rejoicing among the angels when even one sinner repents and believes in Jesus Christ. (Luke 15:10) If, for as long as this site exists, just one sinner is led to repentance and belief in Christ with the aid of the material presented here, the purpose of this site has been served.

Q & A on Reformed Theology (James White)

      Friday, May 21, 2010

Here's a Q & A session Dr. James White took part in several years ago pertaining to Calvinism.  Some of the actual questions that were asked by the audience can be heard with the volume turned up.

Election as Taught in the Bible

      Thursday, May 20, 2010

My friend, Abraham Juliot who also made the audio for the "Isn't it Enough?" Paul Washer video, has provided a list for some of the Scriptural evidence of the doctrine of election. The doctrine of election, of course, is the teaching that God chose some unto salvation before the world was formed not because of any works we have done good or bad. Mr. Juliot has graciously allowed me to post this list here with hopes that it will be edifying for those who read it.

Also, I'd like to provide a video I posted a while back of Mark Kielar of CrossTV speaking of election.  The video will be following the list Mr. Juliot has compiled.

1 Corinthians [The Election of Grace is brought up in the 1st Chapter]
"For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord." [1 Corinthians 1:26-31]

2 Corinthians [In light of the 1st epistle to this church, the Election of Grace is implied throughout the 2nd]
"But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead: Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us." [2 Corinthians 1:9-10] "But as God is true, our word toward you was not yea and nay. For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea. For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts." [2 Corinthians 1:18-22] "Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place." [2 Corinthians 2:14] "Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God." [2 Corinthians 3:5] "For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us." [2 Corinthians 4:6-7] "Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit." [2 Corinthians 5:5] "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation." [2 Corinthians 5:17-18]

Galatians [The Election of Grace is brought up in the 1st Chapter]
"Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead." [Galatians 1:1] "But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood." [Galatians 1:15-16]

Ephesians [The Election of Grace is brought up in the 1st Chapter]
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
      [Ephesians 1:3-6]

Philippians [Distinguishing Grace is brought up in the 1st Chapter]
"Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ." [Philippians 1:6] "Because it was granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer on His behalf."[Philippians 1:29 LITV] "For our citizenship is in Heaven, from where we also wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ." [Philippians 3:20 LITV]

"Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering." [Colossians 3:12]

1 Thessalonians [The Election of Grace is brought up in the 1st Chapter]
"Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God." [1 Thessalonians 1:4]

      2 Thessalonians
"But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth." [2 Thessalonians 2:13]

2 Timothy [The Election of Grace is brought up in the 1st Chapter]
"Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began." [2 Timothy 1:9] "Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory." [2 Timothy 2:10]

Titus [The Election of Grace is brought up in the 1st Chapter]
"Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness; In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began." [Titus 1:1-2] "But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life." [Titus 3:4-7]

The Epistle to the Hebrews [Distinguishing Grace is brought up in the 1st Chapter]
"Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?" [Hebrews 1:14] "For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee. And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me." [Hebrews 2:11-13] "To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect." [Hebrews 12:23]

The Apostle Peter [The Election of Grace is brought up in the 1st Chapter]
"Elect according to the foreknowledge ["pre-arrangement" - Thayer's Greek] of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied." [1 Peter 1:2] "The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Marcus my son." [1 Peter 5:13] "Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall." [2 Peter 1:10]

The Apostle John [The Election of Grace is brought up in the 1st Chapter]
"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." [John 1:12-13] "The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth." [2 John 1:1] "The children of thy elect sister greet thee. Amen." [2 John 1:13] "And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world." [Revelation 13:8] "The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is." [Revelation 17:8] "These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful." [Revelation 17:14]

      Jesus to His disciples
"And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened." [Matthew 24:22] "For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect." [Mark 13:22] "And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven." [Mark 13:27] "And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?" [Luke 18:7] "Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you." [John 15:16] "If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you." [John 15:19] "I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them." [John 17:9-10]

      Jesus to the unconverted
"Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good? So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen."[Matthew 20:15-16] "Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. For many are called, but few are chosen." [Matthew 22:13-14] "All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day." [John 6:37-39] "Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves. No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me." [John 6:43-45] "These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum. Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it? When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you? What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him. And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father." [John 6:59-65] "As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd." [John 10:15-16] "But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand." [John 10:26-29]

What is the "Swoon Theory" and is it True?

      Wednesday, May 19, 2010

Some people (especially Muslims) say that Jesus merely swooned on the Cross and later recovered once he was laid in the tomb. Does this theory hold any water, though? Watch and find out.

      Blogroll Now Updated

      Wednesday, May 12, 2010

The Blogroll has now been updated. You can find it here and see if yours made the cut. I received requests that were sent to different places like email, Twitter, Facebook, etc. so I wouldn't be surprised if I missed one or two. If that's the case, please let me know.  Also, some of the sites had different blog titles than url titles so I wasn't sure which to use.  If you see yours on there and would rather have it called another name, please let me know as well.  Thanks for your patience, everyone!

If You Want to Be on the Blogroll

      Saturday, May 1, 2010

Well, the new website is here now, and several people asked me to either be added to the blogroll or make some changes to it. The bad thing is that I misplaced the requests because it was a busy time, and I can't find them again. So if you were one of those who sent me something about being on the blogroll or changing something and wondering why it hasn't happened yet, please let me know either by email or the comment section below. Also, if you'd like to be on there now, just let me know what your site is, I'll review it, and if doesn't promote Pelagianism or asking Jesus into your heart based on your favorite M&M color, chances are you'll be added. Thanks for your patience, everyone.

(Note: Sites will probably start being added the week of 5/11/10.)
