This is a Sunday School lesson series James White did a while back that has only been available in Real Media format, but is now converted to mp3 and uploaded here for you to stream at your convenience. James White discussed several of the common attacks that come against reformed theology and showed, from Scripture, how they are not valid arguments.
This final lecture in a series of three is about the present danger we face and the church as a whole has faced since it began. That danger is the threat of legalism. Even Paul kept his most stern admonitions not for the morally corrupted church at Corinth, but the churches at Galatia that was trying to finish up in the flesh what they had begun in the Spirit. Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for their legalism, too. Whether it comes from the smile of a megachurch "pastor" who tells you to "just do these few things and you'll be alright" or from another that seems to want your purpose in life to be driven by everything but faith alone in Christ and repentance of your sins, legalism is prevalent today. James White concludes this three part lecture series in this final one where he displays why we need to earnestly contend for the faith against legalism.
I was in James White's channel when someone came in and told us that Issues Etc. is cancelled permanently and Todd Wilken, the show's host, and Jeff Schwarz, the show's producer are fired. Sure enough, if you go to the Issues, Etc. archive, there is no page there anymore. Many people that disagree with the fact that God has unconditionally elected people unto salvation often appeal to John 3:16 as their "proof text" that this doctrine must be wrong. Is this true, though? Watch these three videos to find out...
Antinomianism (from the Greek αντι, "against" + νομος, "law"), or lawlessness (in the Greek Bible: ανομια, which is "unlawful"), in theology, is the idea that members of a particular religious group are under no obligation to obey the laws of ethics or morality as presented by religious authorities. (The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language: Fourth Edition, 2000.) In other words, antinomianism can categorize those people who live lacivious lives, but still say "I'm under grace, not under the law." They believe that since they are under grace, they have no need to keep the moral law to any degree, and they can sin as much as they like. A popular term that has been used to "excuse" this type of behavior is "the Carnal-Christian". James White, in this second of three lectures, explains why the Carnal-Christian is a myth and why we need to earnestly contend for the faith against this enemy of antinomianism.
About two years ago, James White gave three separate sermons about about three of the biggest problems facing the Church: relativism, legalism, and antinomianism. This first one is on relativism. He points out the dangers in this philosophy that permeates so much of professing evangelicalism and explains why post-modern thought is, in it's essence, anti-christian. Lord willing, I'll post the other two in the near future.

Pink's Gleanings series.

Through the internet, I get a chance to meet all kinds of people, but the ones I seem to come across very frequently in the things I do are professing Christians. These are the type of people who would say, "Yes, I'm a Christian because Joel Osteen told me how to have my best life now!", "Yes, I'm a Christian even though I don't believe in a virgin birth, miracles, or a literal resurrection!", or "Yes, I'm a believer because I think the foul-mouthed profanity and irreverent behavior of Mark Driscoll is relevant to me because I like to do that stuff, too!" When dealing with these people more and more, though, the easier I've been able to spot when an argument is going to come from someone who professes to believe in Christ, but their actions don't line up. So instead of going further, from the outset I've simply been asking them, "Do you believe in Jesus Christ?" Of course they say, "Yes." I then follow it up with this:
"Why?"
In my dealings so far, I've received all kinds of answers and even people dodging the question, but not once has someone said,
"I believe in Christ because of God's mercy and grace alone. Otherwise, I'd still be hating Christ in my unbelief and be already condemned forever." (John 3:18)
It's something to think about. Why do you believe in Christ?

The "infallible" pope declared recently that Martin Luther did not intend to split Christianity but only to purge the Church of corrupt practices. In other words, the same Martin Luther who was proclaimed to a heretic by the church of Rome by the "infallible" authority of "Christ's Vicar upon earth" at one time is now going to be declared by the church of Rome by the "infallible" authority of "Christ's Vicar upon earth" that he wasn't so bad after all in another time. Do you see the consistency here? Neither do I. Neither does James White:
The new movie dealing with the suppression of Creationism's right of free speech by the world of academia called Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed is coming out soon. This is a great 27 minute interview between R.C. Sproul and Ben Stein, the movie's host. Brian at RecovertheGospel posted this the other day, but I thought it was worthy to post here, as well, for those who weren't aware of it.

Here are two videos. The first is a response to the Bullwhip Guy satire that I posted a few months ago. (If you haven't seen it and are familiar with Rob Bell's Bullhorn Guy video, do yourself a favor and look at it. The point is well made.) In it, the person gives several responses as to why he believes Rob Bell to be a legitimate believer in Jesus Christ and why we "shouldn't judge this brother."
